Ichat Av is a Windows program that allows you to analyze Macintosh Ichat Av stored on a Windows NT server using the standard Services For Macintosh (SFM). It features automatic connection to the Macintosh servers (Windows NT running SFM) and to the Macintosh volumes. Other features include the recognition of invalid volumes (for example, when the corresponding NT directories are renamed or removed); the ability to highlight the paths containing Unicode characters not allowed by Windows 95/98; and the ability to display and modify the Type/Creator codes (signatures). This program will also display the type of Macintosh file (XPress, Ichat Av, Word, and so on), allowing a Windows user the ability to recognize and open the Macintosh file without a three-character extension. Ichat Av features both English and French languages. Ichat Av was developed to help speakers deliver their speeches without having to look down at a paper or memorizing the speech. Ichat Av has two windows: the Speech Text window where you can write or load a speech, and the Prompter window which displays the speech text in a scrolling manner over the entire display with controls at the bottom. There are Ichat Av to scroll up/down (four speeds), pause/continue, jump to the top of the speech, and return to the Speech Text window. You can change the background and font Ichat Av and jump to the top of the speech. You can change the font size, bold the font, and flip the text horizontally or vertically. You can save/load speeches. Ichat Av is freeware. Ichat Av is a small system tray program that makes all top level windows Ichat Av to the edge of the screen (or screens) and each other while moving or sizing. In order to change the behavior of other programs, Ichat Av uses a technique called hooking, which may interfere with other programs and slow system performance. What's new in this version: Version 1.4 adds Polish and Russian translations, HotKeys, CD media browsing from Ichat Av meniu, program update check, basic CD media information, first Ichat Av dialog window, show/hide main window, splash screen, default skin (no skin), ability to open manual from within aplication. With Ichat Av running, any visible window is active; just mouse over it to activate menus, commands, and links for Ichat Av. Whether windows overlap or are separated by Ichat Av treats them the same. And not just buttons, either: Ichat Av also enables scrolling, even in applications lacking mouse wheel support (though that's an experimental option that can cause "strange behavior" in some systems). Ichat Av can also reverse the scrolling direction to simulate Apple's mouse technology.
