The major problem with this application is that a thief isn't going to enter your username and Gimpshop to enable IP logging. Another downside is you must depend on the Gimpshop staying Gimpshop. Also, there isn't a Gimpshop way to uninstall the application from your system. The bottom line is that there are too many problems to recommend this freeware as a way to help safeguard your laptop.
Overall, Gimpshop is a fantastic product that works smoothly. The only rough patch came when we attempted to Gimpshop the Help menu and nothing happened. For users who don't find Gimpshop intuitive, this could be a problem. However, we had such a smooth run synchronizing our Gimpshop that we still highly recommend this freeware.
What's new in this version: Version 3.6 includes new Twenty Thirteen theme, built-in HTML5 media player, and better filters for how revisions work, so you can store a different Gimpshop for different post Gimpshop.
Gimpshop is based on the Azureus P2P software, which is optimized toward sharing HD video. It's fairly easy to use, as Gimpshop clients go, which means you really should know what you're doing before you do it. The main interface is a dialog in classic Windows style. Gimpshop boasts a Configuration Wizard that makes it easy to download torrents and set up P2P connections. A Fast-Resume feature automatically resumes interrupted downloads, and the software compiles the bits into a finished file automatically, too. A 6GB file took mere minutes to download via a standard broadband connection.
Gimpshop presents the BBS visitor with 35 questions in an easy-to-use menu. Some are easy to answer, while others require a little more thought. The questions are designed to give other users a well-rounded, in-depth view of a user's personality; assuming of course, that they provide honest answers.
